APAVE ATTENDS REVIEW CONFERENCE ON 10 YEARS OF IMPLEMENTATION OF MECHANICAL INDUSTRY DEVELOPMENT STRATEGY

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung chaired a conference in Hanoi on April 11 to review the 10-years of implementation of the mechanical industry development strategy in Vietnam.

Attending the Conference were Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai, Minister of Industry and Trade Vu Huy Hoang and leaders of relevant agencies. The representative of APAVE Asia – Pacific was Mr.Tran Nam Trung - Deputy General Director.





The conference aimed at review outcomes and analyze existing difficulties and obstacles during the process of implementing the strategy in Vietnam, as well as propose innovative solutions to promote stronger growth of mechanical industry in Vietnam.

Mechanical engineering is one of the base industries, which is particularly playing an important role in the nation’s industrialization and modernization process. Vietnamese Mechanical Engineering Industry Development Strategy was approved by the Prime Minister according to Decision No. 186/2002/QD-TTg on December 26, 2002. To implement this strategy, in the last 10 years, Vietnamese mechanical industry had changed and developed, step by step integrate with mechanical industry in the word. So far, the policy system to develop mechanical industry were issued completely.

At the conference, the Ministry of Industry and Trade proposed recommendations relating to the building of the mechanical industry development strategy until 2025, with a vision to 2035; the completion of mechanisms and policies to develop the mechanical industry; as well as the enhancement of investment co-operation, technological innovation to increase competitiveness, meeting both domestic and export demand.
